Spring Break, etc.

Today is the first day of my last-ever Spring Break. Wahoooo! I wrote a scathing review of the class I just finished, to the effect of: this course was a waste of my time and money. Only the final project to do and I'll have this degree. Don't forget, folks: graduation party on June 12!

In other news, Brad and I did our taxes this week. It was magical. I'm getting almost $7,000 back. Thanks, government, for rewarding us first-time homebuyers! Of course, I can't get too attached to that whopping number because $4,000 of it is going directly to Brad's dad in repayment of his loan for our down payment. But still. Not too shabby.

My birthday was great. I went out with Brad and Shaun and Julia for some delicious sushi. Then we went to my friend Karen's art show. The show was in a storage building located in a dingy, industrial, dead-end kind of area on the fringes of Chinatown. We were told to go in the red door, and I'm glad we got those instructions because otherwise this would not have been a place I'd wander into casually. Once we got to the seventh floor the scene unfolded with fantastic works from many different artists, wine flowing for all, and flamenco dancers with live music. So cool! I love this city and all its hidden gems.

I wish the full-time profs taught more of the later classes (ie- Ron, Marco, Joe). There are too many adjuncts without experience wasting our time/money instead of teaching us what we need to know! I only had one truly horrible prof during my time at DePaul, but I had several more mediocre ones. :(

Agreed! My experience with the program has been great overall, but there are a couple profs who just should not be teaching.
